Alicia earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1996. After receiving her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Mount Saint Mary's College in 2000, Alicia joined our staff in 2001. Some of Alicia's postgraduate studies have included courses from; The Gray Institute, The McKenzie Institute International, The Institute of Physical Art, the Neuro/Orthopaedic Institute, as well as, several TMJ and Pilates courses. As a result, Alicia implements an integrative approach utilizing techniques such as; muscle energy techniques, functional myofascial release, therapeutic exercises, Pilates floor and Reformer exercises, gait/ movement assessment, core and pelvic stabilization exercises and neuromuscular re- education to help build upon her initial Maitland based clinical reasoning P.T. Evaluation and manual therapies. In addition to her extensive education, Alicia's earlier background in dance, and as a cheer instructor for the United Spirit Association, helped her to develop a clear ability to effectively educate patients about body awareness and movement re-education, regardless of the patients' age, gender or athletic prowess. Although Alicia has a passion for treating and educating all orthopaedic populations, she has developed a special fondness over the years for working with her pre and post-natal patients. As a parent herself, she has first hand experience of the new physical demands that accompany both pregnancy and parenthood. When Alicia is not in the office, she is busy caring for her husband and two children.
